Unismuh Makassar's Aquaculture Program Prepares Students for Fisheries Center Internship
UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR—The Department of Aquaculture Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar, held a Student Internship Preparation Program on the 6th Floor of the Iqra Building, Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar. Saturday, January 24, 2026. This activity is part of the institutional effort to prepare students for the world of work through practical field experience.
The preparation program was officially opened by the Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Nadir, S.P., M.Si. In his speech, he emphasized the importance of maintaining the university's reputation during the internship by upholding values of discipline, honesty, and responsibility.
According to Nadir, the internship program not only serves as an academic complement, but also as a strategic means for students to gain work experience, build professional networks, and open up career opportunities after completing their studies.
The activity was attended by the Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Ir. Muhamad Ikbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM, Vice Dean IV for Islamic and Muhammadiyah Affairs, Ustadz Dr. Ir. Nurdin, M.Si., and the Head of the Aquaculture Cultivation Program, Ir. Akmaluddin, S.Pi., M.Si.
After the opening, the activity continued with a session delivered by lecturers from the Department of Aquaculture Cultivation, Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Ir. Hamzah, M.Si. The material covered included an overview of internship implementation, strengthening technical competence in aquaculture cultivation, as well as the mental and professional readiness of students to face the world of work.
A total of seven students from the Department of Aquaculture Cultivation participated in this internship program. Six students are scheduled to undertake internships at the Lombok Marine Fisheries Cultivation Center, Nusa Tenggara Barat, while one student will be placed at the Takalar Fisheries Cultivation Center, South Sulawesi. The internship program is planned to last for approximately two months.
Through this preparation program, the Faculty of Agriculture Unismuh Makassar hopes that students will be able to integrate the theoretical knowledge gained in the classroom with practical experience in the field, as well as have greater maturity to enter the world of work, especially in the fisheries and aquaculture industries.
