Ahead of the New Semester, Unismuh Faculty of Agriculture Holds Academic Dialogue to Strengthen Synergy and Academic Staff Performance

Makassar — Ahead of the start of the 2026/2027 academic year, the Faculty of Agriculture at Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar held an Academic Dialogue as a forum for evaluation, mutual understanding, and strengthening synergy among all faculty members.

The event took place in the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar Auditorium, on Friday, September 11, 2026, and was led directly by Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU.

The Academic Dialogue was attended by all faculty leadership, including Vice-Deans I, II, III, and IV, heads of study programs in Agribusiness, Forestry, Agrotechnology, and Aquaculture, as well as lecturers and professors, staff, and employees of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar.

This event was part of the faculty's preparations for the new semester, while ensuring that all academic elements have the same direction, understanding, and commitment in carrying out various faculty programs and strategic agendas.

Dean: Academic Dialogue as a Forum for Unifying Perspectives

In her address, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, emphasized that the Academic Dialogue plays an important role in building communication and coordination among faculty members.

According to her, entering a new academic year is not enough if only activities are prepared. There is also a need to evaluate the implementation of previous programs, identify various challenges, and align efforts so that all academic agendas can run more effectively.

The Academic Dialogue provides a space for leaders, study programs, lecturers, educational staff, and all related parties to convey their views, discuss various academic issues, and find solutions together.

"We hold this Academic Dialogue as part of our effort to unite perspectives and strengthen coordination before entering the new semester. We want all members of the Faculty of Agriculture to have the same understanding and direction in carrying out their respective duties and responsibilities," said the Dean.

She also emphasized that the success of the faculty cannot be achieved by one party alone. Collaboration is needed between the faculty leadership, study programs, lecturers, educational staff, and all academic members.

Academic Evaluation and Quality Improvement are a Priority

Furthermore, the Dean encouraged the Academic Dialogue not only to be a discussion forum, but to produce concrete steps that can be implemented in the implementation of faculty programs.

Various aspects of academics need to be continuously evaluated, starting from the learning process, academic services, program performance, lecturer competence development, student guidance, as well as efforts to improve academic and non-academic student achievements.

According to her, open evaluation will help the faculty to know what is already running well as well as identify aspects that still need to be improved.

"The most important thing about this dialogue is how we can communicate and find solutions together. So that the Academic Dialogue is not just a meeting forum, but produces concrete steps for improvement," she explained.

Strengthening Collaboration in Four Study Programs

The presence of the leaders of the four study programs in the Academic Dialogue also became an opportunity to strengthen coordination in the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar.

The four study programs, namely Agribusiness, Forestry, Agrotechnology, and Aquaculture, have different scientific characters, but are in the same ecosystem of the Faculty of Agriculture.

Collaboration between study programs is considered important to open up opportunities for cooperation in the fields of education, research, community service, student development, as well as various innovations that can strengthen the position of the Faculty of Agriculture.

With better communication, each study program is expected to develop its own strengths while contributing to the achievement of the faculty's overall targets.

Momentum to Welcome the New Semester

The Academic Dialogue, which was held ahead of the new semester, also became an opportunity to rebuild the spirit of all academic members in carrying out their duties and institutional responsibilities.

The Dean invited all members of the Faculty of Agriculture to enter the 2026/2027 academic year with a stronger spirit, better coordination, and commitment to continuously improving service and academic quality.

According to her, the success of the faculty program depends on the ability of all members to work together, support each other, and build open communication.

Through the Academic Dialogue, the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar reaffirms its commitment to building a productive, collaborative, and quality-oriented academic culture.

Entering the new semester, the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar not only prepares academic agendas, but also unites efforts to move together towards improving quality, achievement, and faculty results.
