Unismuh Makassar Agribusiness Program Holds Integrated Field Practice and Community Service in Jeneponto

UNISMUH.AC.ID, JENEPONTO— The faculty and student team of the Agribusiness Program at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh) are conducting an Integrated Field Practice and Community Service (PKM) activity in Kassi Village, Rumbia District, Jeneponto Regency. November 6, 2025.

This activity is part of the implementation of the Four Pillars of Muhammadiyah University, which includes education, research, community service, as well as Al-Islam and Muhammadiyah. According to the chairman of the committee, Dr. Ir. Rasdiana Mudatsir, S.P., M.Si.

With the theme "Biochar: The Right Fertilization Strategy, to Increase Nutrient Absorption for Fertile and Sustainable Land," this activity is expected to be a concrete step in strengthening sustainable agricultural practices at the village level.

The head of the Agribusiness Program at Unismuh Makassar, Muh. Ikmal Saleh, S.P., M.Si., explained that this activity is a direct learning opportunity for students as well as a means of community service.

"We hope that this activity will be an example for the people of Kassi Village and surrounding areas in applying environmentally friendly and sustainable agricultural knowledge," he said.

A total of 281 students from the Agribusiness Program were actively involved in this activity. They assisted the community in land cultivation, biochar application, and efficient agricultural resource management.

In addition, the activity was also combined with academic dialogue, outbound activities, and social service, involving several lecturers, including Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Andi Khaeriyah, M. Pd., IPU, Wd. 1 Dr. Nadir, S.P., M. Si Wd 3 Ir. Mohamad Ikbal, S. PI., M. Si Wd. 4 Dr. Ir. Nurdin, S.P., M. M, Prof. Dr. Ir. H. Syafiuddin, M.Si., Prof. Dr. Ir. Hj. Ratnawati Tahir, M.Si., as well as Dr. Isnam Junais, S.Pt., M.Si., Dr. Amruddin, S.Pt., M. Pd., M.Si., Dr. Ir. Akbar, S.P., M. Si, Firmansyah, S.P., M. Si, Sahlan, S.P., M.Si., Dr. Ir. Rasdiana Mudatsir, S.P., M. Si, Muh. AL Aswar Rusman, S.P., M.P and 34 lecturers from the Agribusiness Program of the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar.

The head of Kassi Village, Murniati, S.Farm., expressed her appreciation for this collaboration.

"We thank Unismuh Makassar for their support. Activities like this not only provide knowledge but also a new spirit for the community in managing agriculture," she said.

Through this activity, Unismuh Makassar reaffirms its commitment to strengthening synergy between the academic world and the community. It is hoped that the knowledge shared can help increase agricultural productivity, the welfare of the people, and expand sustainable agricultural practices in Jeneponto.
