Unismuh Students Win Best Paper at PIMPI 2025 with Innovative Agricultural Tool

UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — Students from Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar have once again achieved remarkable success on a national level. The Unismuh Makassar Scientific Writing Competition (LKTI) team won the "Best Paper" award at the 2025 Indonesian Student Agricultural Innovation Week (PIMPI), held at IPB University on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

At the event, the Unismuh team presented an innovation: the APGOMIT (Automatic Grain Harvesting Device based on Microcontroller and IoT). The design is intended to make it easier for farmers to process harvested grains after harvesting.

The LKTI team from Unismuh consists of Nurul Qadri (student of Informatics Engineering, team leader), Andi Muhammad Rayhan A. Abbas (Architecture Engineering 2024 student), and Awal (Electrical Engineering 2022 student). They are guided by the Faculty of Engineering lecturer, Adriani, ST, MT, IPM.

"APGOMIT is designed to save energy, accelerate grain harvesting, and ensure more even results without prolonged exposure to sunlight," said Adriani.

The device uses an integrated system based on microcontrollers and IoT. Its power source is also designed to be hybrid, using both solar panels and conventional electric charging.

Adriani believes that the success of her students proves the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. The combination of students from Electrical Engineering, Informatics, and Architecture brings a real solution to the agricultural sector.

"The APGOMIT innovation demonstrates the creativity, concern, and understanding of students towards community needs. With further development, this technology has the potential to become a practical tool that provides wide benefits to Indonesian farmers," she said.

She hopes that this achievement will motivate other students to continue producing innovative works. "Congratulations to Nurul, Awal, and Rayhan who have proven that students from Unismuh are capable of presenting brilliant ideas with practical solutions. May this be a catalyst for innovation for the younger generation," said Adriani, concluding.
