MAKASSAR — Elsa, S.Pi., a graduate of the Aquaculture Cultivation Program at the Faculty of Agriculture, Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh Makassar), successfully achieved the distinction of graduating with honors and was selected as the best graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture in 2026. This achievement is a source of pride for Elsa, who comes from Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi, also known as Bumi Masserempulu. This accomplishment demonstrates that anyone can strive for success through hard work, commitment, and a passion for learning.

During the graduation ceremony and faculty interaction at the Swiss Bell Panakukang Hotel in Makassar on Monday, October 19, 2026, Elsa expressed her gratitude and pride for this achievement. Having grown up in a family of farmers, Elsa realized that higher education was a valuable opportunity that she should make the most of. Despite her family's limited resources, Elsa diligently pursued her studies and ultimately achieved the highest distinction.

This achievement is even more meaningful because Elsa was able to demonstrate her academic abilities among the 51 graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar in 2026. Her success not only reflects academic achievement but also highlights the importance of perseverance, discipline, and self-development during higher education.

During her studies, Elsa also actively developed her skills through organizational activities and writing. She was entrusted with the position of General Secretary of the Aquaculture Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar, period 2024-2025. This experience provided an opportunity to hone leadership skills, communication skills, teamwork, and responsibility in carrying out her duties.

In addition to her involvement in student organizations, Elsa also honed her writing skills through the Scientific Creative Institute for Student Research and Reasoning (LKIM-PENA) in 2023-2024. This involvement provided an opportunity to develop critical thinking skills, communicate scientific ideas, and build an academic tradition that supports student development.

Dr. Ir. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU., Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar, expressed her appreciation for Elsa's achievements. According to her, student achievements are a reflection of the success of the educational process, which is not only focused on academic achievement but also on character development and the readiness of graduates to contribute to society.

She hopes that the knowledge and skills gained during her studies can be implemented in a practical way to address various issues in society, particularly in the fields of agriculture and aquaculture.

“These achievements should be the beginning of continuous learning, developing potential, and implementing knowledge to benefit society. We hope that graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture can become a generation that is honest, innovative, and contributes to the development of the agricultural sector,” is the message that is hoped to motivate graduates.

Meanwhile, Ir. Akmaluddin, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM., Head of the Aquaculture Cultivation Program at Unismuh Makassar, expressed his gratitude and pride for Elsa's success in achieving the best graduate distinction at the faculty level. According to him, this achievement shows that students of the Aquaculture Cultivation Program have the quality and competitiveness to compete positively with graduates from other programs in the Faculty of Agriculture.

He hopes that Elsa's achievements can motivate other Aquaculture Cultivation students to strive harder in their studies, actively participate in self-development activities, and make the most of various opportunities during their studies.

Elsa's success as the best graduate of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar in 2026 also highlights the importance of higher education in opening up future opportunities. By combining academic rigor, organizational experience, and scientific writing skills, Elsa is expected to move on to the next stage as a competent graduate and make a positive contribution to society, particularly in the development of the aquaculture sector.

Elsa's story is a reminder that family background does not have to limit aspirations. With educational opportunities, hard work, and a willingness to continue developing, students can achieve success and prepare themselves to be a source of human resources that benefits the region and the nation.
