PINRANG — The Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP) Team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (Unismuh Makassar) held a meeting and coordination with the Pinrang Regency Fisheries Department, Thursday, November 5, 2026.

This activity is part of the preparation and assessment phase for potential KNMP locations in Pinrang Regency for 2027.

Reza, S.Pi., Head of the Fisheries Division of the Pinrang Regency Fisheries Department, along with Muhammad Yusuf, S.Pi., Coordinator of the Pinrang Regency Fisheries Extension Office. The meeting discussed coordination in preparing potential locations, exchanging information about local fisheries potential, and providing the necessary data for location identification and assessment.

The meeting was led by Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, Manager of the KNMP Unismuh Makassar Program, accompanied by Ir. Muhamad Ikbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM, Team Leader. This coordination aims to gain an initial understanding of the coastal conditions, fishing community activities, marine and fisheries potential, fisheries institutionalization, and supporting infrastructure. Information from the Fisheries Department is an important material for the team in determining the focus of field inspections and surveys.

Reviewing Seven KNMP Candidate Locations in Pinrang

After conducting the meeting, the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team continued their activities by visiting seven locations that are potential KNMP locations for 2027 in Pinrang Regency. The seven locations are spread across five sub-districts, namely:

  1. Ujung Labuang, Suppa District.
  2. Lotang Salo, Suppa District.
  3. Wiringtasi, Suppa District.
  4. Mattirotasi, Mattirosompe District.
  5. Langnga, Mattirosompe District.
  6. Sabbang Paru, Lembang District.
  7. Maroneng, Duampanua District.

This field visit was carried out to obtain a direct understanding of the conditions of each potential KNMP location. The aspects of concern include fishing activities of the community, coastal area characteristics, economic potential, accessibility, infrastructure conditions, and availability of supporting facilities.

This initial review is an important step to match administrative information with actual field conditions. This allows for more focused, objective, and data-based location identification and assessment processes.

Survey and Assessment as the Basis for Recommendations to the Central KNMP Task Force

After the coordination and initial visit, the preparation of KNMP candidate locations in Pinrang Regency will continue through field surveys by the survey and facilitator team. The survey is carried out based on the division of tasks assigned by the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team.

In this program, the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team serves as a KNMP candidate location assessment and facilitator team. These responsibilities include identifying areas, collecting data, verifying field conditions, and assessing the potential, needs, and readiness of each candidate location based on the indicators and provisions set by the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries (KKP).

The results of the survey, verification, and assessment will be compiled into a report and submitted to the Central KNMP Task Force of the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia. The report will be used as a basis for evaluation and consideration in the decision-making process regarding the feasibility of KNMP candidate locations for 2027.

Therefore, the assessment conducted by the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team is not a final decision on the designation of KNMP construction locations. The authority to determine the feasibility and designate KNMP construction locations for 2027 lies with the Central KNMP Task Force of the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries according to the applicable program mechanisms and provisions.

Through this survey process, a comprehensive understanding of the actual conditions of each candidate location is expected, starting from the potential of the area, the needs of fishing communities, infrastructure readiness, institutionalization, and support from local governments and communities. The objective and verifiable assessment results are an important part in supporting the decision-making process by the Central Task Force.

Through coordination with the Pinrang Regency Fisheries Department and visiting seven KNMP locations, the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team is committed to carrying out all assessment and facilitation stages systematically, professionally, and based on data. This effort is expected to support the preparation of suitable fishing areas in accordance with the potential of the area and the needs of the community, as well as to strengthen the economy and improve the welfare of coastal communities through the KNMP Merah Putih Kampung Program in 2027.
