Mature Preparation, KNMP 2027 Unismuh Participates in Training with the KNMP Task Force of the Ministry of Maritime and Fisheries

MAKASSAR — The Merah Putih Fishermen Village (KNMP) Team from Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar (Unismuh Makassar) participated in the The participation of the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team was part of the effort to support the preparation and planning of KNMP 2027 candidate locations. In carrying out the program, the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team was responsible for handling 10 candidate locations spread across the city of Parepare and the Pinrang Regency.

The event aimed to align the understanding of development partners regarding standards, stages, and procedures for preparing candidate locations. The materials provided included identification, surveys, assessments, as well as facilitating location readiness as a basis for developing area planning.

Assessment of Candidate Locations Based on Regional Potential and Needs

During the event, the KNMP Task Force emphasized that the development of the Merah Putih Fishermen Village must be based on the needs of the community and the potential of each region. Each candidate location must undergo a systematic identification and assessment process to ensure its suitability with the area development plan.

The preparation of KNMP candidate locations was carried out through four main stages, namely identification and preparation of candidate locations, surveys and assessments, facilitation of readiness, and KNMP development planning. These four stages served as the foundation for objectively and measurably determining location priorities.

KNMP Task Force Assessment Framework

The KNMP Task Force also introduced an assessment framework that includes four main dimensions, namely needs, marine and fisheries potential, location readiness, and sustainability and access. The framework uses 15 indicators to assess the feasibility and determine the priority of candidate locations.

The results of the assessment were then used to identify needs and readiness gaps in each region. Based on the results, the team would coordinate with local governments and policymakers to support the fulfillment of candidate location needs before entering the technical planning stage.

In addition, the KNMP Task Force also emphasized the importance of using digital systems in managing field data. This system includes activity documentation, location coordinates, supporting evidence, and assessment results. The use of digital systems is expected to improve data integration, facilitate verification processes, and strengthen quality control in preparing candidate locations.

KNMP Promotes Coastal Community Economic Empowerment

The Merah Putih Fishermen Village program is aimed at developing a productive, integrated, inclusive, and sustainable coastal economic area. The development is not only focused on building fisheries infrastructure, but also includes strengthening economic activities, institutions, fish processing, marketing, and community empowerment.

This approach is expected to promote the development of coastal areas that are in line with regional characteristics while strengthening economic activities of communities. With appropriate planning, the development of the area is expected to improve the connection between fishing production, processing, and market access.

For the Unismuh Makassar KNMP Team, handling 10 candidate locations in Parepare and Pinrang requires a data collection, field condition verification, and cross-stakeholder coordination process. This is important to ensure that area development planning is based on factual conditions, community needs, and local marine and fisheries potential.
