Lompio Riaja Becomes 'Service Dedication Laboratory': 10 Unismuh Makassar Students Prepare 8 Work Programs
Barru, Lompo Riaja – Tuesday, August 18, 2026. The spirit of community empowerment is beginning to be ignited by students from the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar (Unismuh Makassar), Faculty of Agriculture, Posko 03 in the village of Lompo Riaja, Tanete Riaja sub-district, Barru Regency, South Sulawesi.
This initial step was marked by the implementation of a Program Work Seminar, which was held in the Aula of the Lompo Riaja Village Office. This activity provided a platform for students to introduce and discuss a number of programs that they would implement while in the community.
A total of 10 students from three agricultural study programs at Unismuh Makassar, namely Agribusiness, Forestry, and Aquaculture Cultivation, were part of the Posko 03 KKP. The diverse academic background provided students with the ability to implement programs that were not only ceremonial, but also tailored to the potential and needs of the Lompo Riaja village community.
The seminar was attended by Lurah Lompo Riaja Patahuddin, S.Sos., Field Supervisor (Ir. Muhammad Tahnur, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM., Village Secretary, Village Coordinator (Korluh) Muh. Fazly Semenanjung, village officials, forestry officers, Farmer Women Groups (KWT), KKP Posko 03 students, and the Lompo Riaja community.
During the event, students not only presented their program plans, but also opened a communication channel with the village government and the community. Discussions were held to ensure that each program could be implemented according to the conditions on the ground.
Korluh: KKP is not just an academic obligation
The Coordinator of KKP Posko 03, Muh. Fazly Semenanjung, expressed his gratitude and thanks for the reception and support provided by the Lompo Riaja Village Government and the community towards the presence of the students.
According to him, the success of the KKP program depended on the collaboration between students, the village government, and the community.
“We express our gratitude and thank you for the trust and opportunity given to us to be present and carry out community service activities,”
He hoped that all the programs that had been prepared could be implemented well through cooperation and open communication with various parties.
“We hope that all the planned programs can be carried out through good cooperation or collaboration between students, the Lompo Riaja Village Government, and the Lompo Riaja community,”
For the students, Fazly said, their presence in the community was not just to fulfill academic obligations. KKP also provided an opportunity to learn directly, build relationships, and understand various social conditions that are not always found in the campus environment.
Supervisor Emphasizes Communication and Respect for Customs
Field Supervisor Ir. Muhammad Tahnur, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM said that KKP was an opportunity for students to implement the knowledge they had acquired during their time in college, as well as gain new experiences through direct interaction with the community.
He assessed that the student's ability to communicate and adapt was an important part of carrying out KKP.
“It is also important that students are able to communicate, work with the community and respect the local customs,”
He hoped that the KKP students at Posko 03 would be able to carry out programs that benefited the community and leave positive experiences during their time in Lompo Riaja.
“I hope that the Posko 03 students can carry out beneficial programs and create a good memory in Lompo Riaja,”
Lurah Lompo Riaja: Treat the Village as Your Own Home
Meanwhile, Lurah Lompo Riaja, Patahuddin, S.Sos, welcomed the presence of the KKP students in his area. He asked the students not to keep their distance from the community and actively interact during the program implementation.
“Treat this village as your own home. Don't hesitate to interact with the community, ask, discuss, or convey things that are needed during the KKP implementation,”
He also invited the community to accept and help the students during the various activities.
According to Patahuddin, during their stay in the field, students may encounter various limitations, both from the community and the village government. Therefore, communication and mutual understanding are important.
“I hope that the students can communicate well, maintain good manners, and always prioritize cooperation and family spirit in the community,”
According to him, the presence of the KKP students also provides an opportunity for the community and students to learn and share experiences, and build closer relationships.
Eight Programs Prepared, from Aquaponics to Environmental Action
During the seminar, the students of KKP Posko 03 presented eight program that would be carried out during their stay in Lompo Riaja village.
The programs cover the fields of agriculture, fisheries, environment, education, and religion.
First, education on cashew nut processing into jam. This program is aimed at providing knowledge about alternative agricultural product processing to increase its value.
Second, aquaponics. This program combines fish and plant cultivation in one system as a form of aquaculture technology that can be developed in the community.
Third, planting and distributing seedlings. This activity is an effort to encourage environmental awareness and the use of space for planting activities.
Fourth, education on organic material processing into briquettes. The students will provide education on the use of organic materials as a material that can be processed into briquettes so that it has more value.
Fifth, environmental action. This activity is aimed at increasing community awareness of cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
Sixth, teaching of Al-Qur'an reading and writing (BTQ). This program targets religious education as a contribution of students to support Al-Qur'an learning in the community.
Seventh, religious competition. This activity is a social-religious program that is hoped to encourage community participation and togetherness.
Eighth, installation of notices. This program is a form of student support for information delivery and environmental arrangement in the Lompo Riaja village.
The eight programs are a contribution from students of KKP Posko 03, combining academic backgrounds from Agribusiness, Forestry, and Aquaculture Cultivation.
Through the programs that have been designed, students are expected not only to carry out the activities, but also to build productive relationships with the community.
For the students, KKP is an opportunity to test how far the knowledge gained in college can be applied in the real world. While for the Lompo Riaja village community, the presence of students is hoped to provide additional knowledge, experience, and ideas that can be developed according to local potential.
