Research and Publication Collaboration, Faculty of Economics, Unismuh Makassar Strengthens Academic Culture
UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR – The Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta) of Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar reaffirms its commitment to building an academic culture of excellence through the launch of a collaborative research, service, and book chapter program with student organizations. The program was officially launched in Hall I-GIFT, Iqra Building, 2nd Floor, Monday, August 11, 2025.
This activity, initiated by the IIIrd Division of Faperta, aims to strengthen the synergy between the academic community and student organizations in developing scientific works, community service, and joint publications. This collaboration is structured and measurable, with three main focuses.
First, joint research, involving students in faculty research or collaboration between student organizations with academic guidance support. Second, community service, integrating student programs into the official faculty agenda to maximize their benefits and impact. Third, book chapter, which involves the joint publication of research results, case studies, or field experiences written by faculty and students, which are then officially published.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, emphasized that research collaboration and publication should be part of the academic culture.
"Students are not just objects of learning, but partners in the creation of knowledge. Through this collaboration, we hope to produce high-quality publications, both scientific journals and books, which can serve as national and even international references," he said.
He added that the program aligns with Faperta Unismuh's vision to become a globally competitive agricultural science development center based on local wisdom.
As the initiator of the program, Vice Dean III Ir. Muhamad Ikbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM, explained that the implementation of this collaboration will be structured. This mechanism includes identifying research and service themes, forming collaborative teams involving student organizations, integrating activities, and publishing book chapters.
"In the long term, this program is expected to strengthen the position of the Faculty of Agriculture as a productive faculty in research, relevant to the needs of the community, and contribute concretely to the development of agricultural science," he said.
The event was attended by faculty leaders, heads and secretaries of study programs, lecturers, and representatives of student organizations. The event concluded with a group photo, which will serve as an official document for the faculty.
The program will begin in the second semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, with the first output expected to be launched by the end of 2025.
"This is the beginning of a long journey to build a culture of academic collaboration in the Faculty of Agriculture. We hope that the entire academic community can participate and benefit from it," concluded Andi Khaeriyah.
