Workshop: Colour Aquatic of Life, Unismuh Aquaculture Students Explore the Fish Hobby Business

UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Student Association of the Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Agriculture (FAPERTA), Universitas Muhammadiyah (Unismuh) Makassar, held a workshop titled "Colour Aquatic of Life" on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Faculty of Agriculture Building, 6th Floor of the Iqra Tower, Unismuh Makassar. This event provided a learning platform for students to understand the opportunities and challenges of the growing ornamental fish business.

The workshop aimed to enhance the knowledge of aquaculture students, particularly regarding the economic potential of ornamental fish and the initial steps for starting a business in this sector. Through a practical and experiential approach, participants were encouraged to view aquaculture not only as an academic study but also as a promising entrepreneurial opportunity.

The event featured Farhana Wahyu, S.Pi., M.Si., a lecturer in Aquaculture at Unismuh Makassar, who also has experience in the ornamental fish business. In her presentation, Farhana emphasized the importance of innovation, consistency, and market understanding in developing ornamental fish businesses, especially in light of increasing public interest in aesthetically valuable aquaculture commodities.

The workshop was attended by students, faculty, staff, and representatives from the Faculty of Agriculture student organizations. The event aimed to equip students not only with academic knowledge but also with the mental and skills needed to develop independent aquaculture businesses.

The "Colour Aquatic of Life" activity is part of the effort to strengthen the synergy between academia and entrepreneurship, as well as to encourage the emergence of adaptive and competitive young aquaculture generation.
