Unismuh Faculty of Agriculture Welcomes 175 New Students with a Focus on Sustainability
UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Faculty of Agriculture at Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar officially welcomed 175 new students for the 2025/2026 academic year through the Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) or Faculty Orientation, Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The event took place in the I-Gift Hall, Iqra Tower, Unismuh Makassar Campus.
Carrying the theme "Building Resilient, Integrity, and Sustainable Agriculture-Focused Generations," the event was attended by new students from four study programs, namely Agribusiness (98 students), Forestry (40 students), Aquaculture (19 students), and Agrotechnology (18 students).
The event coordinator, Dr. Nadir, S.P., M.Si., explained that the agenda was designed to help students adapt to the campus environment while also fostering a collaborative spirit from the beginning. "In addition to campus introduction, students are also equipped with academic motivation, understanding of faculty vision and mission, as well as leadership and student ethics materials," he said.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, in his address, expressed pride and great expectations for the new students. "Welcome to the family of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar. You are the next generation who will bring changes to the Indonesian agricultural sector. We hope you will grow into outstanding, Islamic, and academically strong individuals who will make a real contribution to society," he said.
He added that the Faculty of Agriculture is committed to guiding the new students to become globally competitive graduates while also having social sensitivity. "We want this orientation to be the beginning of a spirited academic journey. Hopefully, this faculty can be a space for the growth and development of student potential," he said.
Present at the event were faculty leaders, including Vice Dean I Dr. Nadir, S.P., M.Si.; Vice Dean II Dr. Ir. Hikmah, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM; Vice Dean III Ir. Muhamad Iqbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM; and Vice Dean IV Dr. Ir. Nurdin, M.M. Also present were the heads of study programs, administrative staff, educational staff, and student organization officials at the faculty level, including IMM, BEM, and HMJ in each study program.
