Faculty of Agriculture Unismuh Encourages Student Innovation Through National Program Training
UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Faculty of Agriculture at Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar continues to demonstrate its commitment to building a superior and competitive academic culture. This commitment is realized through the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) activity "Strengthening Student Capacity and Creativity through the National Competitive Program" which includes three flagship programs of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), namely the Student Creativity Program (PKM), the Program for Strengthening the Capacity of Student Organizations (PPK ORMAWA), and the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW). Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
The activity, which took place in the Faculty of Agriculture Auditorium, was enthusiastically attended by lecturers and students from four study programs: Agribusiness, Aquaculture, Forestry, and Agricultural Technology. They attended to strengthen academic collaboration in guiding students to compete in the national arena.
The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, officially opened the activity. In her remarks, she emphasized the importance of synergy between lecturers and students in creating creative, innovative, and impactful works for society.
“The Faculty of Agriculture is not only a space for learning theory, but also a social laboratory where students test ideas, cultivate leadership, and create real solutions for modern agricultural challenges,” she said to the applause of the participants.
Andi Khaeriyah added that through the PKM, PPK ORMAWA, and P2MW programs, students are encouraged to not only excel academically but also to be mentally resilient, creative in thinking, and adaptive to changing times.
“We want to create agents of change who are not afraid to dream big and never stop learning even after achieving success,” she said.
This Bimtek aims to provide a comprehensive understanding to accompanying lecturers regarding effective mentoring strategies for students participating in national competitive programs. Lecturers are expected to be at the forefront of ensuring that every student idea develops in accordance with the guidelines and policy directions of Kemendikbudristek.
Two speakers from the Student and Alumni Agency (LPKA) of Unismuh Makassar were present to deliver the material, namely Dr. Dian Pramana, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Dr. Hamzah, S.P., M.Si.
In the first session, Dr. Dian Pramana presented material on the theme "Understanding and Mastering the PKM Scheme." He explained the six main areas of PKM – ranging from Research (PKM-P), Entrepreneurship (PKM-K), Community Service (PKM-PM), Creative Ideas (PKM-KC), Futuristic Concepts (PKM-GFT), to Scientific Articles (PKM-AI). Participants were invited to understand how to prepare attractive, fundable, and relevant proposals to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The second session was still delivered by the same speaker with the topic "Student Organizations as Drivers of Social Empowerment and Village Innovation." In his presentation, he emphasized that student organizations have a strategic role not only in the campus environment but also in community empowerment and strengthening social leadership.
The third session was delivered by Dr. Hamzah, S.P., M.Si., who reviewed the Student Entrepreneurship Development Program (P2MW). Participants were equipped with an understanding of the stages of entrepreneurship development, from business planning, market validation, to financial management and business sustainability.
The activity was also attended by Vice Dean I Dr. Nadir, M.Si., Vice Dean II Dr. Ir. Hikmah, S.Hut., M.Si., IPM, Vice Dean III Ir. Muhammad Ikbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM, and Vice Dean IV Dr. Ir. Nurdin, MM.
Also present were the heads of the study programs: Akmaluddin, S.Pi., M.Si. (Aquaculture), Dr. Ir. Rosannah, M.P. (Agricultural Technology), Muh. Ikmal Saleh, S.P., M.Si. (Agribusiness), and Ir. Jauhar Mukti, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM (Forestry), as well as the faculty’s GKM (Student Activity Unit) led by Ir. Mutmainnah, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM with secretary Dr. Amanda Patappari Firmansyah, S.P., M.P.
Through this activity, the Faculty of Agriculture Unismuh Makassar hopes to create a generation of students who not only think critically and creatively but also have social awareness and a strong entrepreneurial spirit.
