New Student Orientation, Faculty Dean Encourages New Generation to Dare to Achieve and Exceed Achievements

MAKASSAR — Seventy-eight new students from the Faculty of Agriculture at Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar attended the 2026/2027 New Student Orientation program on Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh Makassar. The event, which took place from 08:00 to 15:00 WITA, served as an initial opportunity for new students to familiarize themselves with the academic environment, the curriculum, faculty services, student life, and Muhammadiyah Islamic values.

The new students, who came from four study programs, namely Agriculture, Forestry, Aquaculture, and Agrotechnology, participated in the orientation.

The orientation was officially opened by Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, along with faculty leaders, who served as speakers. The event was designed as an introduction and initial preparation for students before entering academic and student life in the Faculty of Agriculture.

Ir. Muhamad Ikbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM, Chairman of the Orientation Committee and also Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar, stated that the Faculty Orientation plays an important role in helping new students adapt to the campus environment.

"The Faculty Orientation provides a starting point for new students to learn about the Faculty of Agriculture, the academic system, administrative services, student life, and Muhammadiyah Islamic values," said Muhamad Ikbal.

According to him, early exposure is expected to help students understand various aspects of campus life and prepare for their education at Unismuh Makassar's Faculty of Agriculture.

Equipped with Academic Knowledge and Muhammadiyah Islamic Values

During the event, new students received materials related to their education in the Faculty of Agriculture.

Materials regarding faculty profiles, the roles of leaders, and guidance on academic life in the Faculty of Agriculture were delivered by Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU.

Subsequently, Vice Dean I, Dr. Nadir, S.P., M.Si., delivered materials on the academic system and implementation. This information provided a clear understanding of the academic process for new students.

Meanwhile, Vice Dean II, Dr. Ir. Hj. Hikmah, S.Hut., M.Hut., IPM, delivered materials on financial management and faculty facilities.

Regarding student life, Vice Dean III, Ir. Muhamad Ikbal, S.Pi., M.Si., IPM, delivered materials on student affairs and academic achievement. New students were introduced to various opportunities for personal development and achievement.

Materials on Muhammadiyah Islamic values and character development were delivered by Vice Dean IV, Dr. Ir. Nurdin, M.M. These materials were an important part of introducing the character and values that are part of the educational identity in Muhammadiyah 'Aisyiyah Islamic Higher Education institutions.

Dean Encourages New Students to Use Achievements as Inspiration

In his speech, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar, Dr. Ir. Hj. Andi Khaeriyah, M.Pd., IPU, invited new students to take advantage of the Faculty Orientation to get to know all the elements in the Faculty of Agriculture.

She hoped that new students would not only get to know the faculty and study programs, but also communicate with lecturers, staff, and student organizations in the Faculty of Agriculture.

The Dean also encouraged new students to make outstanding people in the Faculty of Agriculture their role models, inspiring them to develop their potential and achieve success.

"Make them role models in your student life. Use their achievements as motivation to surpass them," said Andi Khaeriyah.

This encouragement encourages new students to have a strong spirit to develop, not only in the academic field, but also in organizations, leadership, creativity, and other achievement areas.

The 2026/2027 New Student Orientation program is expected to be the starting point for 78 new students to build character, develop competencies, achieve success, and practice Muhammadiyah Islamic values.

By getting to know the faculty, academic system, leaders, lecturers, and student organizations, new students are expected to adapt and actively participate in building a superior academic culture in the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar.
