HIMAGRI Unismuh Makassar Holds Workshop on Thesis and Scientific Article Writing for Prospective Graduates

UNISMUH.AC.ID, MAKASSAR — The Faculty of Agriculture Student Association (HIMAGRI) of Muhammadiyah University (Unismuh) Makassar held a workshop on "Writing Final Assignments and Scientific Articles" in the Mini Hall on the 8th Floor of the Iqra Building, Thursday, May 7, 2026.

The event was attended by students of the Agribusiness Program who had completed their internship as part of the effort to accelerate the completion of studies and improve the quality of student scientific works.

The workshop featured three speakers with expertise in their respective fields, namely Dr. Ir. Jumiati SP MM IPM MCE who discussed qualitative research methods, Dr. Sri Mardiyati SP MP regarding quantitative methods, and Dr. Ir. Akbar SP MSi IPM QPOA who delivered materials on writing scientific articles and using the Mendeley application.

The event was also attended by senior faculty members of the Faculty of Agriculture at Unismuh Makassar, including the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Dr. Ir. Andi Khaeriyah MPd IPU, Deputy Dean I, Dr. Nadir SP MSi, Deputy Dean II, Dr. Ir. Hikmah SHut MSi, Deputy Dean III, Ir. Muhamad Ikbal SPi MSi IPM, and Deputy Dean IV, Dr. Ir. Nurdin MM.

In his speech, Andi Khaeriyah emphasized the importance of the quality of scientific works as a reflection of the intellectual capacity of students.

"This workshop is not just an academic routine, but a bridge for students to produce precise and innovative written works. We want graduates of the Agribusiness program at Unismuh not only to quickly graduate, but also to be able to present writings that can contribute concretely to agricultural literacy in Indonesia," he said.

The Head of the Agribusiness Program, Muh Ikmal Saleh SP MSi, said that the workshop was a form of academic support for students who were preparing their final assignments.

According to him, writing a thesis is often a challenge for students, especially in determining the research method and compiling scientific references.

"By presenting competent speakers in both qualitative and quantitative methods, we hope that students will be more confident and will no longer postpone the completion of their final assignments," said Ikmal.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson of HIMAGRI Faculty of Agriculture, Unismuh for the 2026-2027 period, Diva Risky Asyaitum, said she was proud of the enthusiasm of the participants during the event.

She said that the workshop was a form of organizational contribution by the student association to support the academic capacity of Agribusiness students.

"Through this activity, we want to ensure that students have adequate technical knowledge, starting from understanding research methodologies to using the Mendeley application in compiling scientific references," she said.

Support was also conveyed by the Head of the Faculty of Agriculture BEM who represented the leadership of the student organization. He appreciated the HIMAGRI initiative, which he considered able to align organizational programs with the academic vision of the faculty.

"Synergy between BEM and HMJ like this is very important to create a supportive academic climate, so that students feel supported in completing their studies," he said.
